About
Our
Program

This program aims to support flexible and independent learning in the high school by providing relevant real-world experiences in scientific research for current HKIS junior and senior students (aged 16 or above). Students are challenged to learn advanced knowledge, skills and applications beyond their curricula and develop critical problem solving and communication skills in authentic contexts.

Our network of internship hosting partners are comprised of various Hong Kong universities and industry specific companies. Internship opportunities can be paid or unpaid and the duration of the internship varies from three to eight weeks. The majority of our internships are offered during the summer holidays, however, internships during the winter break or ones that are ongoing throughout the school year are also possible.
All prospective intern applicants are reviewed and must have demonstrated strong learning dispositions, academic success and interest in a research area related to the internship in order to be recommended. Host partners will be connected with suitable students for consideration, and may arrange follow up interviews as needed. We are grateful to our internship host partners for supporting the HKIS Summer Science Internship Program by providing invaluable experiences to our high school students and inspiring their future scientific studies and contribution to society.
